Great solution IMHO, if you fit with some the features below
If you have old hardware you want to reuse (or new of course)
Because of the above, can be inexpensive
You don’t need fast write performance, good for archival, semi static data, photos and the such like
Reasonable read speed, can stream HD content no problem
The only media server I found that only spins up the drives that are being accessed, so low energy/running costs (good news if you want to leave it on 24/7)
